Evaluation questinon 5

How did you attract/address your audience?

how to attract my audience:

-mode of adress

  • the language in my magazine has been written with a lot of colloqual terms to attract a more intelligen range of people (my primary target audience) as they would be in the right age range for students and learning pupils at schools or college.

Majorie Ferguson (1980)

  • According to the theory, most of the poses I have used on my models are invertational and alluring other than disgarting.
  • This is because generally the theme rock is more of a has more of a rebellious and mischeivious look than flirty making it fit more with my theme and target audience.

Interactivity

  • my magazing has a website link which helps to interact more with the audience.
  • I gave my target audience to ask questions and help modify the look and outcome of my magazine.

Naomi wolf

  • I used red lipstick on my main front cover models lips to show the connotations of lust and sexual lure also the desire to want to look that way which would attract woman to the magazine.
  • Personal relations
helps the reader feel closer to the writer and people featured in the magazine.

Personal identity

  • readers can relate to the magazine and stories featured in it.
We had to show how our media projects represented social media and the groups that were involved, this is my results.
I used style models from other magazines to help create my magazine and help design and build the ideas for the different magazine components.

Saturday 5 April 2014

We had to look at different audiences we wanted to aim our magazine at, I chose to aim mine at a young adult and mainly female based audience.
In class we have looked at different magazine publishers and companies that create and publish worldwide and have been looking for companies that could publish our magazine. These are my results.

Evaluation question 4

What would be the audience for your media product?

My chosen target audience is teenage/young adult woman with little income. I have chosen this target audience as my magazine is based toward a target that is young and enjoys gossip for a small price. I have made it this way as many young people cant afford the luxuries of expensive magazines every week so if it is cheap enough then they would but it.
My ideal audience would be my primary audience that I have already mentioned but my secondary audience would be young to middle-aged woman who like to get the “gossip” to try and retain there youth.
Another aspect of my secondary audience would that they would have a larger income so they would equally be more inclines to spend there money on buying this magazine as they they have more money to spare, whereas the younger audience would buy it for the fact they desire it more than other products.

Evaluation question 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? You've done a lot of work on this already so talk about your research. Will you be increasing their profit by broadening their audience or by reinforcing existing product or would you appeal to a smaller, niche audience that there’s no or little existing product aimed at? What would it compete with?

Looking from my research from Bauer Media and IPC, and after creating my product, I have decided that Bauer would possibly be a better company than IPC for making and distributing my music magazine.

This company has more existing magazines that comply with my existing magazine style and theme so it would help boost and benefit there existing products by adding a similar product to boost sales and variety.

Where, IPC does have a smaller share of the market, with only distributing 2 music magazines, NME (my style model) is successful but a lot of their magazines are gossip, or women's magazines, or very niche hobby magazines, which means they have more knowledge to appeal to a larger younger audience for a music genre that they currently  have any coverage of at all.

Evaluation question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

For my media magazine (shock wave) I compared numerous magazine style models to come up with ideas that contributed to ideas for my final design. I used style models of mast heads, size of mast, tags, advertisement’s, images and font style.

This all helped me to decide what I wanted my magazine to be like and what I don’t want it to be like. Using style models such as NME and kerrang helped me choose the layout, colour pallet and style my magazine was going to be.

To start I had a colour pallet of red, black and white which I got inspiration from kerrang magazine but I decided it wasn’t fitting with the style I personally wanted so I chose a more fitting style which was more in line of style as the NME style model I used.

Friday 14 March 2014

I have started thinking about the design of my magazine and have created flat plans that I will post when finished and then I will start to look at models for my front cover.

Friday 14 February 2014

I am currently at the end of creating my music magazine and will be moving on the evaluate and collecting primary information and other peoples views of my work.
I have made some changes to my contents page so it fits more with the magazine conventions as my style models and fits the theme of the rest of my magazine.

Thursday 13 February 2014

I have changed my article layout to fit more with the style of my chosen style models. I have added quotations to make it more personal and a drop shadow to make it stand out more.
This is one of the images I have used in my creating my front cover. I have photo shopped the background out leaving a white canvas for the picture to be on making the image stand out and look more clear.
This is the Mass Head for my magazine. It follows the colour theme of my magazine and is a simple but effective font to show the name clearly.
This is my article page so far. As you can see I've kept to the same colour conventions as my front cover and contents page.

I am currently looking at the magazine NME as inspiration for my magazine layout and design.

As you can see I have not used the same conventional colours I have all through out my magazine as I have on this page. This is so it stands out from all the other pages, as it is introducing my article page.
This is my contents page so far, as you can see it fits with the same style as my front cover with matching colours and fonts.

I have changed my front cover to fit the style models I have used more accurately.

Friday 7 February 2014

Im finding inspiration from other alternative genre magazines to go toward an idea for my own magazine.

Monday 27 January 2014

This is the final design for my article introduction. I have used one of my main models Lucy as the photo as she is my main feature of my article, appearing on the next page.

Thursday 16 January 2014

This is my front cover so far. I have taken pictures of, overall, 4 models and are in the process of photo shopping them to resemble my magazine style. I have taken inspiration from some rock magazine front covers I have looked at and analysed in my blog. This inspiration is evident in my work.
